Why This Work Matters

Nurses are the largest health profession in the world — yet they are rarely elevated as the healthcare experts they truly are. Dr. Tiffany Monique has spent her career changing that narrative.

From advocating for Black maternal health equity on national stages to coaching individual nurses through doctoral programs to helping organizations dismantle systemic barriers, her work is personal, purposeful, and proven.

She doesn’t shy away from hard conversations about maternal health disparities, health equity, or the role of systemic racism in poor patient outcomes. Because the only way forward is through honesty, expertise, and action.

“As chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for a large nursing program, I have called on Dr. Montgomery’s expertise several times. She has facilitated impactful and engaging implicit bias workshops for faculty as part of their professional development and has served as an expert resource on Black maternal health during scholarly roundtables. Dr. Montgomery’s expertise and experience coupled with her genuine passion for health equity makes her a valuable asset to any institution and we plan to collaborate with her again in the future.”
